Abstract

Motivation plays a crucial role in language learning, particularly for young learners whose cognitive, emotional, and social abilities are still developing. This thematic review examines the main motivational factors that affect children aged 5–12 in learning English. Based on an analysis of 30 peer-reviewed studies published between 2010 and 2023, the research identifies common themes such as intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, the impact of parents and teachers, classroom atmosphere, cultural influences, and the use of technology.
