ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN LANGUAGE TEACHING: OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES, AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed numerous sectors, including education. In language teaching, AI-powered tools such as intelligent tutoring systems, chatbots, automated assessment platforms, and large language models have introduced innovative approaches to language learning. This study explores the role of AI in language teaching, examining its benefits, challenges, and pedagogical implications. Through a review of recent literature and educational practices, the research highlights how AI supports personalized learning, enhances learner engagement, and facilitates language acquisition. The findings indicate that while AI offers substantial advantages in language education, its effectiveness depends on appropriate pedagogical integration and ethical implementation. The study concludes that AI should complement rather than replace language teachers, creating a collaborative learning environment that combines technological innovation with human expertise.
