Abstract. The treatment of mineralized artesian water requires an approach based on the characteristics of each water source. Hardness, dissolved salts, iron and manganese, suspended particles, organic substances and microbiological indicators do not respond equally to a single treatment method. This thesis considers the importance of laboratory assessment and process selection, drawing on supplied manuscripts about ion-exchange sorbents and technologies for removing mineral salts and microcomponents. It presents a practical framework for choosing and monitoring treatment stages without claiming experimental results that were not reported in the source materials.
