Abstract

This article explores the potential of Design Thinking as a
competency-based instructional approach for enhancing students’
linguacommunicative competence in higher education. The study proposes a
pedagogical framework that integrates the five stages of Design Thinking into
English language instruction and analyzes its contribution to communicative,
linguistic, sociocultural, and strategic competence. Based on qualitative
classroom observations and analysis of student projects, the study demonstrates
that Design Thinking promotes meaningful language use, learner autonomy,
collaborative learning, and intercultural communication. The findings suggest
that this approach effectively prepares students for professional communication
in multilingual and multicultural environments.
