USING CHATGPT AS A TEACHING ASSISTANT IN EFL CLASSROOMS

Abstract

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies has introduced innovative opportunities for language education, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. Among these technologies, ChatGPT has gained considerable attention due to its ability to generate human-like responses, provide instant feedback, and support personalized learning experiences. This study investigates the effectiveness of ChatGPT as a teaching assistant in EFL classrooms and explores its impact on students’ language development, engagement, and learning autonomy. A mixed-methods research design was employed involving 60 undergraduate EFL students at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
