Abstract

This article explores the challenges of implementing Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. CLIL has gained global recognition as an innovative approach that integrates subject content and foreign language learning, particularly English. However, its successful application requires a combination of linguistic, pedagogical, and institutional readiness. This study aims to identify the key barriers to CLIL implementation in Uzbek universities and propose practical solutions. The research is based on qualitative analysis, including a comprehensive review of international literature and contextual insights from Uzbek higher education. The findings reveal several critical challenges, including insufficient teacher language proficiency, lack of CLIL-specific methodological training, scarcity of localized teaching materials, low student language readiness, and limited institutional support. Additionally, cultural and systemic factors influence the adoption of CLIL practices.
