FORMATION OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHER IN THE SYSTEM OF CONTINUOUS EDUCATION

This article examines the formation of professional competence of foreign language teachers within the framework of continuous education. The study highlights the importance of lifelong learning in modern pedagogical thinking and emphasizes the changing role of foreign language teachers in contemporary education. It discusses the key components of professional competence, including linguistic, methodological, technological, intercultural, communicative, and reflective competencies. The paper also analyzes the stages of professional development, beginning with undergraduate education and continuing through master’s studies, pedagogical practice, and advanced professional training. Special attention is paid to methodological innovations such as CLIL, task-based learning, blended learning, and reflective pedagogy, which contribute to improving the quality of language teaching. Furthermore, the article explores current reforms and challenges in Uzbekistan’s foreign language education system, including integration with international standards, implementation of CEFR-based requirements, and the need for teacher development. The study concludes that effective professional competence formation requires continuous self-improvement, innovative methodologies, and strong institutional support to ensure globally competitive education quality
