Abstract

Periapical periodontal diseases remain one of the most serious and pressing challenges in modern dentistry, significantly impacting the oral health of the population. Apical periodontitis (AP) accounts for a substantial proportion of dental morbidity, ranging, according to various authors, from 20% to 56% of the total number of patient visits in outpatient dental practice. It is particularly concerning that destructive forms of apical periodontitis are a frequent cause of tooth extraction, which adversely affects the patient's general health, disrupts the integrity of the dentomaxillary system, and diminishes the quality of life.
