Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive clinical protocol for the application of temporary anchorage devices (TADs), specifically micro-implants (mini-screws), in modern orthodontic practice. Over the past decades, skeletal anchorage has revolutionized orthodontics by overcoming the limitations of traditional dental anchorage, allowing for precise, predictable tooth movement without reciprocal adverse effects. The article details the clinical and technical stages of micro-implant placement, including pre-operative diagnostics via cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), anatomical site selection, surgical insertion techniques, immediate loading guidelines, and preventative measures for common complications. Based on contemporary clinical literature and biomechanical analyses, the therapeutic advantages of skeletal anchorage—such as absolute control over dental movement, minimally invasive procedures, high patient compliance, and expanded boundaries of non-surgical treatment for complex dentofacial deformities—are thoroughly evaluated
